Dr. Sherrod joined Region Eye Center in 1991. Not a native of the midwest, he grew up in Louisiana. He graduated from the LSU School of Medicine, after completing his undergraduate studies at Louisiana Tech. University. General internship and ophthalmology residency were performed at LSU School of Medicine. Prior to joining the Regional Eye Center, he served as Chief Ophthalmology Resident at LSU and helped train physicians in small incision cataract surgery. Dr. Sherrod is one of the area's most experienced eye surgeons, having performed over 10,000 cataract and laser surgeries. He performs a wide variety of eye surgeries including cataract, plastic, glaucoma and retinal laser procedures.

The emphasis of his surgical practice is cataract and laser eye surgery. He was one of the first surgeons in the area to perform "no stitch, no shot" cataract surgery. Dr. Sherrod especially enjoys restoring vision loss associated with the aging eye.

Dr. Sherrod and his wife Sharon have three young children, Madeline, Charlie and Paul. As a family, they enjoy church activities and time at the lake.
